Why does my Philips plasma tv screen go blank?

It has happened once before. Its as if the tv is turned off all of a sudden, but the “on” light is still on. It wont do anything at all. Do these tv’s get too hot, or is it something more? Thanks!
I have had the tv for 8 months.
