It can also be used to provide one on one tutoring. It provides the opportunity for students to take classes in their own area from any school in the country that offers this service. The advantage is that you do not have to be on campus, and can still interact with your instructor, and take classes that may not be offered locally. EDIT: Becky, home school students use this feature at local colleges too when taking classes during their high school years. Its pretty neat since the kids do not have to wait, or leave town to take the class. The college benefits by being able to offer courses, and share teachers when they are unable to offer some of the classes on campus.
