Should I get a stand alone Blu-Ray DVD player or a PS3?

I’m going to get a Blu-Ray DVD player, and I’m trying to decide whether I should buy a stand alone player or just buy a Playstation 3. Which is better? If I bought a PS3, it would be used mainly for the Blu-Ray player. Any suggestions?
