Samsung ML 6060 – A Reliable Product
The Samsung ML 6060 Printer, used with ML 6060 Toner, is an excellent printer designed specifically for home use. It is an excellent example of an affordable laser printer that has exceptional quality. It is a mid-range printer and prints both text and graphics at a high quality. Its maximum speed is 12 pages per minute.
The ML 6060N, the next model up is exactly the same except it comes with a 10/100 BaseTX Ethernet adapter. This can also be added to the ML 6060 for an additional cost. The print engine is powered using a 66MHz RISC processor, which is standard for most printers. The low memory, 4 MB of RAM, can make printing large graphics heavy documents a problem. It is possible to upgrade to 68 MB.
Text printing really stands out and large text documents are printed at the maximum speed of 12 ppm. All graphics and text are crisp and clear due to the 1200 x 1200 print resolution. An additional way to save on this printer is to operate it in toner saving mode. Toner can get quite pricey and you can save up to 40% when operating the printer in toner saving mode.
This machine is covered by a one-year warranty for all parts and services and you will need to purchase a USB cord to connect it to your computer if you do not already own one. The printer can be run using Windows and Macintosh operating systems. It cannot print on as many types of media as other laser printers but it can handle a maximum page size of standard legal or A4 paper and can print on transparencies and envelopes besides plain paper.
When testing the printer a few limitations were found though they are very minor indeed. The machine did not have a problem printing excel files that had black text on solid color blocks. Many times this can be an issue with other problems but the Samsung ML 6060 Printer did not have any problems. Any text that is smaller then 10 pts was a bit blurry and hard to read so just be aware and keep all font larger then 10 pts.
The printer speed does slow down when printing a document that includes both text and graphics. However this decrease in speed is most likely due to not enough memory. If you find this printing too slow you can always upgrade the memory. All graphics and text were crystal clear and if you felt the need to enhance the clarity even more you can change the dithering options.
The printer works its best when printing completely text documents, as the text is sharp, crisp and clear. A 50-page document can be produced in just over four minutes. The combination of high quality printing and speed make it one of the best in its range.
The Samsung ML 6060 Printer is an excellent choice for personal or home printing. It is extremely affordable and with the Samsung ML 6060 Toner saving mode you will be saving money on Samsung ML 6060 Toner. It is possible to upgrade the connectivity and memory on this device though for printing text and graphic files this is not necessary. All in all an excellent printing choice.
