RBC7 Batteries

Shopping for double A batteries is a fairly easy procedure, but shopping for APC batteries for your power protection systems, such as an RBC7, can be a little more complicated. However, the process can actually be quite simple indeed if you know which steps to take beforehand. By laying out exactly what steps should be taken, we are hoping we have simplified the process for you.

Shopping for a replacement or backup RBC7 battery can be either an easy task, over and done with before you know it, or it can become something of a hassle. There are a few steps to take before you just point, click and have a replacement battery shipped to you.

There is no guarantee, for starters, that when you order a replacement battery, that you are actually going to receive the correct one. Unlike, say, triple A batteries or 9 volts, which all really come in the same size and shape, there are dozens of different shapes and sizes for any given APC battery.

Furthermore, manufacturers of equipment that uses RBC7 batteries are frequently known to change specifications without notice, so just know that you can’t, say, rely on the specs listed on the manufacturer’s website, but rather, you actually will have to take the battery out of your unit and see what the specifications are.

The biggest complaint that is received from APC battery retailers is that no matter how they try and put it in, it doesn’t fit. And of course, when this happens, it is generally the customer’s responsibility to send the ill fitting RBC7 battery back to the retailer at their own expense, and then, furthermore, to pay for the shipping of a correct RBC7 battery. Basically, it really comes down to the fact that you should check the specifications of your RBC7′s before placing an order.

Knowing precisely when to replace your battery, is difficult, but you can assume your battery, as a general rule will last one year, but will not last as long as two years. However, nothing is set in stone and there are many exceptions. You will find that some batteries may last longer than a year or so, whereas others may not even last a year. The rule of thumb is generally to use the warranty as a guideline, in that a replacement APC battery is guaranteed to last at least as long as the warranty. If you want to look after your ups system and have continual uninterrupted power supply, then it really is better to replace it before it expires.

Manufacturers who produce good quality batteries, if the truth were known, tend to say the battery will last longer than a year, but if it’s only a one year warranty that is offered when you purchase, then you should not take the risk. It’s important to replace your RBC7 as soon as the warranty runs out. You need to remember that your powerware needs to be working in an emergency; so why wait until something terrible happens to find out your battery does not work. By replacing it in a one year period, you will be certain to be safe in an emergency.
