Question about the TomTom GPS Navigation System?

I’m considering purchasing a GPS navigation system. My only concern is when you get directions from the unit, how does it know where you want to go? Does it have a microphone on it? Does it have a touch screen to enter the address? Do you have to connect it to the internet and program where you want to go?.
