Routers are one most crucial computer networking equipment in the domain of computer networking. These devices make sure that the data communication correctly takes place between the network devices. As an example, if you want to search the Net for something, you will open a web browser and type the web address (URL) of the website you need to navigate and press enter. Then the browser tries to figure out the website and load the web pages stored in the website. For this, the router makes sure that the data communication between the computer and the Internet is smooth and straight. Network interface devices or cards are the next most important computer networking equipment. These are attached to the device which needs to be networked. This device performs the same tasks as a router, other than the ability of connecting the Internet to the computers. Since the hubs and switches look the same, many people make mistake when identifying them. They consider both the devices perform similar tasks. Unlike hubs, switches are used for connecting two or more networks so they can perform as a single network.
