There are two audio outputs on your TV, a red(right) one and a black(left) one. You need a stereo RCA cable ( or 2 mono cables) and they need to be hooked up between the TV and your HT.

You can’t hook an HT to an MP3. MP3 is a file format. Where does this MP3 live? If it’s in an I-pod you’ll have to buy a cable from Apple. If its a computer you’ll need a cable with a 1/8" stereo jack on one end and two RCA jacks on the other end.

Unless your TV has audio output jacks there is no way you can hook up your TV for sound.
Another way would be to hook up either a VCR or DVD recorder that has a tuner on it.
Just hook up the audio outputs to a audio input on your receiver.

OK on the back is a speaker connection called speaker out and it is easy u can hook it up to Ur home theater if Ur home theater has it setup for it if it don’t u can use aux or some other it has to say input though input
and on some t.V’s u have an mute or cancel TV speakers button so when Ur TV starts u don’t have to put on mute
