How can I prevent burn-in on my plasma-screen tv?

My dad just purchased a 46'' plama screen tv, and it was just delivered today. I have heard about screen burn-in, and how can I avoid it? Can I play video games on it? I have a wii that is currently connected to my current tv. How long do I have to go without using it? Thank you in advance to all who answer!
