CCTV Cameras and Installation, Meeting The Customers Needs

Customer satisfaction depends solely on their needs being met. These needs are often budgetary but a CCTV camera installation that doesn’t cover the perceived areas of need is as bad or worse than no CCTV camera coverage at all. The cameras, types of cameras, lenses, multiplexers and recorders all play a factor in the successful installation of a CCTV camera system.

A CCTV camera installation can be and often is a complex task. The complexity of the installation of the CCTV cameras and associated equipment can often be mitigated by a series of meetings between both parties. The client in the first meeting will define their needs as to areas of coverage and whether or not they actually need a color camera or a black and white camera in a particular location. The provider must recognize that the client in all probability has no knowledge of CCTV systems and is turning to the provider to provide the solutions to the needs.

The client must make their needs known to the CCTV provider. These needs, which include problem areas that they want to, cover, what type of coverage that they need and their final budget for the project. While the provider may have a different concept for the project the needs of the client must be met. There may be options to a CCTV camera installation that the client is unaware of. These options should be brought out to the client and potentially the CCTV installation will be subject to further budget review.

Budgetary considerations can be accomplished by installing a less expensive camera package in some locations and more expensive equipment in others. The substitution of black and white cameras for color cameras often saves hundreds of dollars that can be utilized in other equipment. The provider can provide the client a drawing showing camera locations and areas of coverage on the facility. This drawing will allow the client to visualize the coverage and have no doubts as to the areas on the facility that will be covered by the CCTV camera system. This drawing can be provided to the client for presentation to management for final approval.

Meetings between the client and the provider provide open lines of communication. The open lines of communication give the provider the information necessary to solve the problems of the client. These open lines of communication also provide the client the knowledge that their needs are to be met by the provider. When the project is complete, the finished project should accurately represent what equipment and positions were on the drawing provided to the client. This insures that the provider meets the needs of the client.
