You can think about the computer’s processor as a brain because it is the closest equivalent to a brain in a computer. It’s the part that does the thinking, although not literally, but it seems like it’s thinking.

Another way of thinking about it is to think of it like muscles. That means a low-end computer is basically the 98 lb weakling. A high-end computer’s processor is sort of like a Charles Atlas or Arnold Schwarzenegger, someone who is very strong, maybe takes steroids and is very big and muscular.

Consider the two of them — the person who isn’t very strong and the bodybuilder. Since something like a book is so easy to carry, it doesn’t matter much if you lift weights. Either one of them can easily carry a book across a room.

However, what if the person is trying to lug a big, 100-pound bag of cement, the98-pound weakling might not be able to make it across the room or might not even have a hope of lifting it.

If they do actually make it across the room, they’re probably going to stagger slowly and barely make it there because they’re trying to do something that’s just too much for them to do.

The bodybuilder, on the other hand, will naturally notice} that the weight is much more than a book, but they’re going to be able to carry it across the room much more easily than the 98-pound weakling.

One way to think about it is like that. A high-end computer is like the bodybuilder. The final thing I want to speak about is why it is, over time, what used to be a high-end~powerful computer goes from being Charles Atlas to being a 98-pound weakling.

It’s because the new versions of programs, like Word or your operating system, in most cases tend to be more complicated. They are not necessarily more complicated to use, but under the hood they are.

As the years go by, it’s kind of like they weigh more. The typical “weight” has grown over time and so becomes harder for the computer to deal with.

I hope that makes sense, even if you’ve never had much luck learning basics of computer skills before today. It actually can be a lot simpler than you may have thought with a good source of computer training.
