Desktop Parts 101

From Cheap rebuilt laptops. Computers have been with us for more than 3 decades now. We use it at the office and at home. In fact, some people can’t leave their homes without it and in some case, even can’t live without it. Despite this, only a few actually know the parts that they often use. Besides the keyboard and the mouse, most people do not know squat about their Desktop.

Hardware is that part of the Desktop that you can actually touch. It refers to the two basic parts of the Computer which is the monitor and the CPU (central processing unit), which houses the vital parts of the Desktop including the processor, the motherboard, the graphics card, the memory and the hard disk. This is different from what people usually say software, which is the programs and the operating system that you have inside the PC. Unlike Components, you cannot physically touch a software.

Not knowing all this is okay actually. After all, why do you need to know when you know how to use it. But what if you want to buy a Computer, how will you be able to choose the best one if you do not know anything about Computers except how to type on the keyboard and navigate the mouse?

Here are some of the things that you need to know about Desktop Parts. It will not give you the whole deal but at least introduce you to the basics.

Processor for instance will take care of the general processes of the Computer. Having a fast processor will help your Desktop convert and process data. Thus, there will less waiting time while the Computer reads the data. Another important factor when it comes to speed is the RAM or the random access memory. This will help your Desktop Computer keep up with multiple tasks. This is especially true if you are the type of user who opens a lot of windows all at the same time. The memory is different from the hard disk although the two are often mixed up. Hard disk is the storage for the files. This is where you keep the documents that you save or the music files that you download.

Another important component of the CPU is the motherboard. This is where all the Computer parts are laid on. When the motherboard breaks down, you will need to sometimes change all the parts because some will no longer be compatible with the new one.
